Kalkan is located in Turkey and is situated near the sea. This place is famous for its villas and restaurants. Some of the most used adjectives you will hear about this place is, great ocean views, very friendly locals, good service and weather and so on. In a way Kalkan can be described as Turkeys Riviera. As with many places, choosing to go on a holiday to Turkey, one should consider what type of accommodation one would like. In Kalkan there are some very good resorts where the staff will take care of you very well. 

These hotels will have everything you need, Turkish delights such as the famous Turkish baths, spas and restaurants that will cook you some great Turkish food. If you have more of an outgoing personality then the hotels will be able to arrange field trips. If you would rather stay in apartments or villas while visiting Kalkan, then the good news is that there are a wide choice villas and apartments to choose from. Some people prefer staying at apartments and villas for the simple reason that they offer more privacy compared to a hotel.

Of course this means one will have to take care of oneself. But this is no problem as there is no shortage of vendors who will sell just about anything you need, from different types of food and mini markets selling clothing. There is just nothing like cooking your own breakfast and sitting on the terrace or back porch of the villa or apartment and watch the sea and sailboats drifting by. This town is after all famous for its views of the sea. This is also why getting fresh fish on a daily basis is not difficult, the place is teeming with fishmongers selling the latest catch of the day.

Another thing that Kalkan is famous for is its restaurants. The town is littered with restaurants. In fact it is safe to say that if there is a roof then there will be a restaurant underneath it. One could eat out 3 times a day and still not be able to visit all of the restaurants during the holiday. The peak travel season to Kalkan is from March to October. The weather through out the year is very nice and predictable, during winter it rarely gets above 80F. July and August is the hottest months which means one needs to be prepared with sunscreen and water.
