Kalkan is located in Turkey and is
situated near the sea. This place is
famous for its villas and restaurants.
Some of the most used adjectives you
will hear about this place is, great
ocean views, very friendly locals, good
service and weather and so on. In a way
Kalkan can be described as Turkeys
Riviera. As with many places, choosing
to go on a holiday to Turkey, one should
consider what type of accommodation one
would like. In Kalkan there are some
very good resorts where the staff will
take care of you very well.
These hotels will have everything you
need, Turkish delights such as the
famous Turkish baths, spas and
restaurants that will cook you some
great Turkish food. If you have more of
an outgoing personality then the hotels
will be able to arrange field trips. If
you would rather stay in apartments or
villas while visiting Kalkan, then the
good news is that there are a wide
choice villas and apartments to choose
from. Some people prefer staying at
apartments and villas for the simple
reason that they offer more privacy
compared to a hotel.
Of course this means one will have to
take care of oneself. But this is no
problem as there is no shortage of
vendors who will sell just about
anything you need, from different types
of food and mini markets selling
clothing. There is just nothing like
cooking your own breakfast and sitting
on the terrace or back porch of the
villa or apartment and watch the sea and
sailboats drifting by. This town is
after all famous for its views of the
sea. This is also why getting fresh fish
on a daily basis is not difficult, the
place is teeming with fishmongers
selling the latest catch of the day.
Another thing that Kalkan is famous for
is its restaurants. The town is littered
with restaurants. In fact it is safe to
say that if there is a roof then there
will be a restaurant underneath it. One
could eat out 3 times a day and still
not be able to visit all of the
restaurants during the holiday. The peak
travel season to Kalkan is from March to
October. The weather through out the
year is very nice and predictable,
during winter it rarely gets above 80F.
July and August is the hottest months
which means one needs to be prepared
with sunscreen and water.
