Marmaris Travel Guide
Marmaris is a resort town that is located on the
Mediterranean in south western Turkey. While the
scenery is quite beautiful and there is much to do
around the town, Marmaris is probably most famous
for its vibrant night life. A whole street, across
from the grand bazaar, is filled with clubs and
dance areas. The nights are filled with music and
dancing and drinking the local drinks.
Being located on the coast there are many things to enjoy involving water. Beautiful Med. Beaches with clear blue, warm waters are a joy to any visitor. Sit on the beach and watch the million dollar yachts pull into the harbour. Enjoy a full day boat excursion around the harbour. These day trips are all inclusive and worth the small amount you pay for them. Divers will find that the area is perfect for diving and that the conditions are always right. Marmaris has many accommodations, ranging from the most exquisite spa resorts to simple hotels. Travellers that stay in the city will find much to do outside of their hotels. Atlantis Water Park is located right on the beach is a major attraction to visitors, with its large water slides and pools. Shoppers will find the Bazaar a place to find the most unique items in the area. True Turkish gifts, designer clothing, authentic food and much more can be found here. Across from the Bazaar is the famous night club strip that lights up the night – every night. Marmaris is also a key location to travel around western Turkey. Many day trips can be found to visit places such as Ephesus. The ride through the beautiful mountains is worth any trip that you take outside of the area. Many people also take boat trips to Rhodes from Marmaris. Rhodes, a Greek Isle is very near the coastline and easily accessible in a day’s journey. Marmaris has a long and wonderful history. It is believed that the Marmaris Castle has been in the same spot since 3000B.C. However, records of the castle can only be traced back to the time of Alexander the Great when he conquered the area. History buffs will enjoy all the offerings that the Castle and the surrounding area provide. Turkey has had a long and colourful history that has been intertwined with so many important events through history that seeing them first hand is awe inspiring. |
