A Guide to Yalidavak Travel

 

 

Charming and peaceful, the village of Yalikavak, offers a refuge from the large crowds at other resorts. Having undergone a few updates, including an unused olive oil plant that was recently converted into a souvenir shop and a water cistern that is now a small art gallery. This still active fishing village offers a unique look at the traditional Turkish way of life. Situated in the area known as the Turkish Riviera, where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean, this beautiful village is famed for its breathtaking sunsets, warm, clear waters and sandy beaches.

The attractions of this picturesque village are many. Visitors can dine on traditional Turkish dishes and fine fresh seafood meals at the many waterfront restaurants in the area. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, the view of the sunset is fabulous. A few of the more popular area restaurants are Ali Babas, The Three Brothers and Musties.

Just a short jaunt away from Yalidavak is the nearby Turkish port town of Bodrum. Here visitors can visit the ancient Bodrum castle and Underwater Archeology Museum. Bodrum is also known for its nightlife and first class restaurants. Bodrum offers many shopping opportunities as well, with an array of markets and bazaars. Here visitors can find leather goods of all kinds, kilims, sandals, and original cotton fashions.

Other area attractions include diving and snorkelling. Diving schools are available and there are daily diving excursions for certified divers. There are boat trips and sailing excursions available to explore the Turkish Riviera. Exploring and swimming the secluded grottos of Black Island is also a popular attraction. Other water sports are available the area including wind surfing and para sailing. 

The weather in Yalikavak is warm and sunny year round. With temperatures in summer running from 25c and peaking around 34c, with daily sunshine levels being around 10 to 13 per day. Spring and fall are very mild and warm also, with temperatures around 20c and nine hours of sunshine daily. Temperatures are still fairly warm and mild in the winter as well.

The pace of Yalikavak is easy, and the surrounding hills provide a lovely backdrop for a leisurely picnic.
