Km. from the resort of
Bodrum,
Turkey. Torba is nestled in between
the olive groves and pine woods. The
village appears to be worlds apart
from the St. Tropez, which is its
neighbour.
The waters of Torba are calm and crystal clear which have a number of different sea life such as tropical fish and sea turtles. During certain times of the day, you may even catch a glimpse of a Mediterranean monk seal. If you want to enjoy a day off to yourselves and want a secluded area to swim in, you may want to check out one of the secluded coves which is ideal for giving you a moment away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. The secluded coves will offer you a peaceful and quiet location to have a picnic while still allowing you a place to swim. When looking to enjoy a good sit down meal, there are plenty of traditional restaurants which feature a number of fresh grilled items from the sea along with the numerous Turkish cuisine choices such as Turkish tapas. The village of Torba is considered to be a modern village but is still a noted tourist location. The beaches are sandy and the hotels are modern that are surrounded by hills and mountains. The air that you will breathe will have a smell of the local herbs growing wild along the hills and mountains. If you are looking to take part in some of the local history of Torba, you will not want to miss out on the preserved structure that was built more than 2,500 years ago by the Lelegains and crowns the hill overlooking the village. Not to far away, you will come across the Byzantine Monastery ruins which lay to the east of the bay. Since the village is just a hop and skip away from the city of Bodrum, you will find that during the lunch hours it is booming and is a popular swimming spot for those who live in Bodrum or who are visiting Bodrum. If you are looking to take a day trip, consider visiting Didyma and the Bodrum Peninsula which are day excursions where you will not want to miss the Temple Of Apollo. A ferry can bring you back and forth from Didyma and is a impressive means of travel when looking to enjoy a day out. There are a number of minibuses that will deliver you to numerous locations away from Torba as well. |
